I love the look of having open shelves in the kitchen instead of upper cabinets. I think it eliminates that terrible clutter that we can be guilty of behind closed cabinet doors, opens the entire room up and balances the room better. The heavy elements are closest to the ground and they get lighter as the room goes up.
