Interior: Cielito Querido Cafe

Cielito Querido Cafe in Mexico by Esrawe and Ignacio Cadena.  I love all of the text on the walls, fun pattern on the floor, wood shelving, and fantastic furnishings.  I would most definitely get my coffee from this cafe if it were close by.  Heck, I'd go out of my way to get coffe from here if it were in the same state. (via weheart)

Artist: Meg Urbani

yesterday my husband texted me a photo of a piece of art he had just purchased at a pawn shop and i instantly recognized it.  it was a polaroid transfer he had done 10 years ago!  yes, he bought back his own artwork for a few bucks and i couldn't be happier to get it back.  it's a photo of our bedroom windows in our first home together, the home we lived in when we got married.  we think it was left at the house when we moved out, sold at a yard sale, and somehow ended up at that pawn shop. so, when i saw these polaroid transfers by Meg Urbani i knew it was a good time to post them. purchase one here at society6.

Architecture: Tye River Cabin

This beautiful Tye River cabin was designed by Olson Kundig Architects.

This retreat is essentially a wooden tent on a platform that opens to the forest and river. Materials are allowed to weather to merge with the site.

Expansive glass wall pivots to bring the outdoors in.

A beautiful concrete fireplace is the central component of the cabin.

Interior: Wyeth Blue

Baleen, 1982, Andrew Wyeth

i've always loved the color palettes of andrew wyeth's paintings.  i'm looking for the perfect blue for a friend's kitchen wall and had these two kitchens bookmarked that reminded me of a blue that wyeth would have used.

Furniture: Emu Re-Trouve

There is something special about this Emu Re-Trouve seating collection from Coalesse.  I got to see it in person a few weeks ago and was smitten.  With the fun wire color options and seat cushion size and color options there are dozens of ways to create a chair that is fun and playful.

DIY: Bathroom Vanity

I love bathroom diy projects and vanities especially.  I'm in the market for a fun vanity with storage in the near future and really like this idea.  Take an IKEA over the fridge wall cabinet, wall mount it below your counter, do a cut out for the sink and plumbing, add a little plywood for stability, and voila!  I think it looks fantastic.  See more photos and read more about this project here.  (via plastolux)

Recycled Content: Pools

With the summer heat beating down on me here in the south, I suppose having pools on the brain is normal.  I've bookmarked two great recycled pool posts this week and wanted to combine and share.

Above, an emptied pool was turned into an amazing greenhouse, called the garden pool, with a plethora of plants, a tilapia pond, a chicken coop, is powered by solar panels and uses hydroponic gardening.  Watch the video, it's pretty amazing and check out their site here to learn more and see more photos.

Below is a post from inhabitat where unused dumpsters were turned into swimming pools in NYC.  I love all of the bright fencing and stilts used to make it even more fun.  See more photos and read more about this cool project here.

Architecture: Silo House

The Silo House was designed by Cornell University students for the 2009 Solar Decathlon.  I love the rusted metal exterior and elevated canopies.  Bringing the outdoors in was created throughout the project by using folding exterior doors and I love the simplicity of the palette and materials used.  I want a curved kitchen wall now and I would live here in a second. Finish: Shaw 18x36

I'm loving the new 18x36 collection from Shaw.  What a fun size and look this collection creates.  They are also going to come out with a list of existing carpets that will be available in this 18" x 36" tile too.  I cannot wait to use this on a project.

Interior: Hotel Favorita

hotel favorita in porto, portugal by sam baron.  if i were to go to portugal, this is where i'd like to stay.  they view themselves more as a home than as a hotel.  i love the stark white walls with the pops of color and pattern in floors and in paintings. (via yatzer)
