Recycled Content: RUBBiSH

Holy crap, Batman!  I love this sink!  My friend Monica sent me this link last week and I've been drooling over it ever since.  Recycled tires turned into sinks?  Brilliant.

The rubber from the tires is melted down and cleansed of debris, and the tiny inherent metal fibers that give a tire its road resistance are then formed into a sheet. This sheet is stretched over a base frame—made of wood, metal, or any other material out of which bathroom furniture can be fashioned—and anchored down by the drain collar. This creates a shallow-sloped surface for water to be siphoned away, but not a clunky profile; in fact, the material used is so minimal that, the manufacturer claims, the sinks use less than one pound of rubber.

love these diecut silhouetted wood coasters.  set of 4 is $28 over at ponoko.

Architecture: Juvet Landscape Hotel

This is where I'd rather be today.  The Juvet Landscape Hotel in Alstad, Norway was designed by Jensen & Skodvin Architecture.  The smoked glass lets you see the beautiful scenery surrounding this structure, yet makes it difficult to see in.  (via renest)

Cielito Querido Cafe in Mexico by Esrawe and Ignacio Cadena.  I love all of the text on the walls, fun pattern on the floor, wood shelving, and fantastic furnishings.  I would most definitely get my coffee from this cafe if it were close by.  Heck, I'd go out of my way to get coffe from here if it were in the same state. (via weheart)

Artist: Meg Urbani

yesterday my husband texted me a photo of a piece of art he had just purchased at a pawn shop and i instantly recognized it.  it was a polaroid transfer he had done 10 years ago!  yes, he bought back his own artwork for a few bucks and i couldn't be happier to get it back.  it's a photo of our bedroom windows in our first home together, the home we lived in when we got married.  we think it was left at the house when we moved out, sold at a yard sale, and somehow ended up at that pawn shop. so, when i saw these polaroid transfers by Meg Urbani i knew it was a good time to post them. purchase one here at society6.

Architecture: Tye River Cabin

This beautiful Tye River cabin was designed by Olson Kundig Architects.

This retreat is essentially a wooden tent on a platform that opens to the forest and river. Materials are allowed to weather to merge with the site.

Expansive glass wall pivots to bring the outdoors in.

A beautiful concrete fireplace is the central component of the cabin.
