this soil lamp actually gets it's power from soil. on the site they explain it as "the metabolism of everyday life produces enough electricity to keep an LED lamp burning". the mud is encased in copper and zinc cells that conduct electricity and the only upkeep to the lamp is a dash of water every now and then.
