Architecture: "Bird's Nest" Olympic Stadium

For the past few weeks my architectural posts have been Olympic and China related, first, with the water cube and then the performing arts center. But, I have saved the best for last. I am sure that most of you have seen an image of this magnificent $400 million structure....the Olympic Stadium, dubbed "the bird's nest". This year's Olympics have really upped the anty for Olympic architecture and I can only hope the cities after can keep up. I was in Atlanta this week and drove by Olympic park and felt so uninspired. Is it that the U.S. has such stricter codes for building construction or are we just lame?
