Recycled Content/DIY: Chiquita Banana Chandelier

Do you like chiquita bananas?  I've been humming the Pina Colada song to that previous question all morning.  Anneke Jakobs designed this DIY project from recycled chiquita banana packaging.  For step by step directions click here.  (via trendsnow)

Artist: Luke Jerram

This has got to be the most amazing engagement ring I've ever seen.

Working with a jeweller and the vinyl record manufacturer Dubstudios, I created this engagement ring for my partner Shelina. The ring has a 20 second recorded message (my proposal) etched onto it's surface and can be played back with a miniature record player. 100 lbf/in² of pressure was required to cut the silver ring, using a vibrating diamond stylus. The ring is also a homage to Thomas Edison who made the first sound recording machine - the phonograph in 1877.

Accessory: Green

Dedon's Green designed by Jean Marie Massaud.  I would love to use this to create a green wall for my future dream pergola.

Architecture: Shell House

Japanese modern architecture is definitely a favorite of mine and the Shell House by Far East Design Lab is a trapezoid shaped house located in Hiratsu City, Japan that definitely hits the mark. (via design/milk)

Interior: Moleskine Milan

Do you love moleskine?  I do and was giddy to see these photos of their Milan office.  Black is perfectly used for accent walls and furniture and a splash of color is added here and there just like their moleskines.  (via lifehacker)

DIY: Recycled Tshirt Projects

here are two great diy projects that use recycled tshirts from this old dress.  the first is a braided neckpiece and second is a knotted headband.  i usually cut up old tshirts for cleaning rags around the house, but think i'll try one of these projects instead next time.

Recycled Content: Offcut Bar Stools

offcut bar stools by edwards moore architects.  made from reclaimed timber offcuts , these stools would look fantastic in so many applications.  i'd love to create my own version for a pair of stools in my kitchen.  (via weheart)

Artist: Facadeprinter

I always enjoy when things I love join forces.  What would happen if you combined pointillism with a paintball gun and gave it to a digital artist to create graffiti?   You'd get the Facadeprinter.

The Facadeprinter is a simple robot. It's purpose: printing huge artworks out of it's box onto the walls. Based on a digital artwork software controlled motors are placing an airpressure-marker to fire thousands of colorballs. So the artwork is growing dot by dot like the drawing of a magic pen. An inkjet-printer in architectonical dimensions.

Accessory: Coat Rack

coat rack by vytautas gecas. it's made from two of my favorite materials...concrete and wood.  i think i need one.  (via contemporist)

Architecture: VM Houses

VM Houses by BIG + JDS = PLOT.  These have got to be some of the most striking balconies that I've seen and really like the thoughtfulness of not stacking them one on top of the other.  Now, each balcony gets a little more sunshine overhead.  I would have hated being the person drawing the elevation of this building though.  (via archdaily)

Interior: Stribrna Skalice House

stribrna skalice house, designed by prodesi/domensi, is the perfect weekend getaway home.  the wood ceilings and simple white palette make the interior feel so open and clean and i love the coffee table and the inset glass around the fireplace too. (via archdaily)
