ModRocks are 100% recycled clear glass pebble tile. check out the different installations available from the same product. eco-friendly, good looking, and modern...triple threat!
Consumer bottles are crushed into small pieces, tumbled and then mesh mounted onto 12" by 12" interlocking sheets. Average sheet thickness and individual chip size is approximately 1cm or 3/8" each. These are 100% recycled glass, and since there is no melting involved, very little energy is used in the production process. (via modwalls)

Interior: Catawba

interfaceFLOR invited my office to go to Georgia and tour their carpet mills. not only did we find out how carpet tiles were made, but we got to stay in this fabulous 1948 mid century modern house that interface uses for their guests. it's called "catawba" and it used to belong to the Callaway family...of Callaway Gardens. it's just up the street from the gardens and overlooks the city. so perfect, so mid century modern, and so fabulous that i actually jumped up and down for joy when i got inside.

this was my fabulous room...check out their fun carpet in there and this is the most perfect view from my room...pool and cities and mountains beyond...oh my.

this was a little sitting area (den) just outside the kitchen and to the right is the dining room...again with their fun carpet. ugh, the furniture was as fabulous as the food. we had a personal chef that was to die for.

here's the living room. yes, there's my dream chair...the red womb and ottoman. i sat in it and dreamed of a life with one. i loved those knoll credenzas on the back wall too.

an overall shot of the living room with cool stone walls and exposed wood ceiling. the game room downstairs was a blast. there was a fireplace, pool table, board games, bar and a bathroom. we really didn't have to leave this room at all if we didn't want to. i had a blast and would love to go back to this beautiful home. heck, i really really want to live here. i have a video of the mill tour that i will post later today as well. stay tuned!

Inspiration: Backyard Movies

backyard movie night by jaysun
when i was in college by boyfriend, now husband, started showing movies in the yard of the little house we shared with our three roommates. it started small...just the housemates and our close friends and then became larger and larger. we'd throw blankets out and pop popcorn, eat, drink beer, hang a sheet from the trees, bring out the old projector and watch an awesome movie. people would drive by and slow down as they saw what we were doing. it was awesome and i miss that. now that we have a yard and the newly purchased side lot, we've discussed starting this tradition again. we have the perfect location for it and i am so excited! as soon as i get the side lot looking somewhat manageable...it's on!
any suggestions on a good movie to show outside in the summer?

DIY: Linen Spray

are you like me and want your house to smell fresh but don't want to spray around fake smelling harsh chemicals?  yes, i know this sounds like the opening line to a late night infomercial.  i especially want my linens to smell nice when i go to bed, which is difficult when you have two stinky little bostons snuggling with you.  so i've decided to make my own linen spray.  check out this diy linen spray from casa sugar.  i bet it smells yummy.  i'm going to try it and also do another one with my peppermint dr. bronner's soap too!

Alagasco NGV

i love hybrid technology and alternative fuel vehicles. i love it even more now that i have my hybrid. alagasco, our supplier of natural gas in the city and most of the state, came to speak to us today at lunch on the advantages of using natural gas over electric. look at the sweet car they pulled up in. it's a honda civic and runs completely on natural gas. they call them NGVs (natural gas vehicles). we're getting 70 garbage trucks that run strictly on natural gas later this year too.

Finish: Skeletal Lamping Blik Decals

of montreal is one of my favorite bands and one of my favorite shows i've seen live. they are also old friends of my husband's....he even lived with one of the guys for a while. their album art is always fun and blik surface graphics has the skeletal lamping collection of wall decals for your home based on of montreal's album. i love all of the buildings!
The goal of the Skeletal Lamping Collection is to expand the perception of music packaging beyond traditional flat, square artwork. The album exists in seven different packaging formats: CD, LP, T-shirt, tote bag, button set, paper lantern, and wall decals. Each item in the Skeletal Lamping Collection includes both the digital album and its unique packaging of the album art.

Weekend activities.

i had a really fun weekend. i took friday off of work and planted the garden that morning and did yard work, cleaned the house, etc. i have tons of tomatoes, peppers, greenbeans, watermelon, blueberries, and cucumbers planted. that night i went with some friends to the crawfish boil which is a music festival in town and saw LL Cool J.

yes, he really is that hot.

saturday i had lunch with my sister who was in town for a wedding and that night my husband and two of my dearest girl friends threw me a birthday party at the house. (hence the friday cleaning spree) above is the beautiful spread in my kitchen from the party. it was fabulous.

sunday i went to a friend's greenhouse warming party followed by lunch/dinner at my favorite bbq joint...the original golden rule bbq. yum! is the weekend over already?
