DIY: Chai Tea Gift Recipe
with the holidays looming overhead i have been brainstorming on diy presents for friends and family. last year i made a hot cocoa mix with homemade marshmallows which i thought was delicious(and i may do again this year!), but found this fun recipe for chai tea and thought it would be fun to make and to share with you all.
Ingredients:
1 cup nonfat dry milk powder
1 cup powdered non-dairy creamer
1 cup French vanilla flavored powdered non-dairy creamer (or cut non-dairy creamer and just use 2 cup french vanilla)
1 1/2 cups white sugar (can use 1.5 cups splenda)
1 1/2 cups unsweetened instant tea (can use decaf too)
2 teaspoons ground ginger
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon all spice
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
Preparation:
In a large bowl, combine milk powder, non-dairy creamer, vanilla flavored creamer, sugar and instant tea. Stir in ginger, cinnamon, cloves and cardamom. In a coffee grinder, blender or food processor, blend 1 cup at a time, until mixture is the consistency of fine powder.
To serve: Stir 2-3 heaping tablespoons Chai tea mixture into a mug of hot water or warmed skim milk.
FOOTNOTE You may choose to omit the French vanilla creamer, and use 2 teaspoons vanilla extract instead. To do so, mix the vanilla into the sugar, to let then dry, then break the sugar into small lumps. Follow the same procedure as above.
